How is E-Liquid Made?

The Production Process of E-Liquid

E-liquid is the liquid that is vaporised and inhaled in electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) and vaping devices.  It is made up of four main ingredients: propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), nicotine, and flavorings.  Shortfill E-Liquid doesn’t contain Nicotine however, in this case the nicotine is added by the user.

The production process of e-liquid begins with the procurement of the raw materials. PG and VG are purchased from high quality food-grade suppliers and Flavorings can be purchased from flavor houses, which specialise in creating and selling flavor concentrates.  We also create our own Flavour Profiles and Concentrates.

Once the raw materials have been procured, they are weighed and measured according to the desired recipe. The ingredients are then mixed together, either by hand or by machine. The mixing process is critical to ensuring that the e-liquid is evenly blended and that the flavor is consistent.  At Mix Juice, we have our own fully certified Clean room, Laboratory and Manufacturing equipment to help us create the best quality e-liquid.

After the e-liquid has been mixed, it is typically allowed to steep for a period of time. Steeping is the process of letting the e-liquid mature and develop its flavor, similar to Wine etc. The length of time that the e-liquid steeps will vary depending on the recipe and the desired flavor profile.

Once the e-liquid has finished steeping, it is ready to be filled into bottles. The e-liquid is then sealed and labeled.

The final step in the production process is quality control testing. The e-liquid is tested for nicotine content where required, PG/VG ratio, and flavor. The e-liquid is also tested for any impurities or contaminants.

The production process of e-liquid is a complex and precise process. It is important to use high-quality raw materials and to follow strict quality control procedures to ensure that the e-liquid is safe and enjoyable to vape.

The production process of e-liquid is regulated by a number of government agencies, including:

  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States
  • The European Union (EU)
  • The World Health Organization (WHO)

These agencies regulate the ingredients that can be used in e-liquid, as well as the manufacturing process. The regulations are designed to ensure that e-liquid is safe and that it does not contain harmful substances.

The production process of e-liquid is a constantly evolving field. As new technologies and ingredients are developed, the way that e-liquid is made is also changing. This is leading to new and innovative e-liquids that offer a wider range of flavors and experiences.

The future of e-liquid production is bright. As the popularity of vaping continues to grow, the demand for high-quality e-liquid is also growing. This is driving innovation in the e-liquid industry and leading to the development of new and exciting e-liquids.
